Job Title: Consumer Loan Underwriter
Location: South County Branch

We are currently seeking a Consumer Loan Underwriter with prior experience underwriting auto and personal loans in consumer finance or sub-prime auto industries.
Duties include, but are not limited to: analyzing credit reports, assessing credit risks, structuring loans based on risk and extending credit. Additional duties include:
- Maintains effective credit granting practices to maximize revenue and minimize loss.
- Provides information by answering general loan underwriting questions and communicates with multiple third parties regarding loan inquiries.
- Approves credit line increases by evaluating member records, purchase activity and payment history.
- Complies with all Federal, State, and local legal requirements.
- Maintains member confidence and protects the credit union by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing departmental goals.
- Prepares reports as assigned by the Central Processing Manager.
- Identifies cross sell opportunities and communicates them to branch staff.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree and over two (2) years experience underwriting consumer loans with lending authority limits. Indirect auto lending experience preferred. Experience with Appro system a plus. Equivalent combination of experience and education considered. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required and the ability to make sound lending decisions by following loan policies and procedures. Must be computer proficient. Ideal candidate must also have excellent communication skills, time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, have a strong work ethic, and the ability to identify needs and refer to appropriate products and services.

Successful candidates will have teller or other appropriate cash handling experience. Must be a team player and exhibit the ability to effectively communicate with courtesy, tact and diplomacy. Candidates must be detail oriented and dependable.
Compensation includes competitive base pay and monthly incentives.
