Deposit Account Insurance
National Credit Union Administration
Neighbors Credit Union is insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), an arm of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). NCUA, the strongest deposit-insuring agent of the federal government, federally insures all of Neighbors Credit Union's deposit accounts up to at least $100,000. However, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (passed on October 3, 2008) increased the insurance coverage on all accounts up to at least $250,000 until December 31, 2009. IRAs are federally insured up to at least $250,000 in coverage.
Excess Share Insurance
Through Excess Share Insurance (ESI) Corporation, Neighbors Credit Union insure members up to at least $250,000 in coverage, in addition to the standard $100,000 of share deposit insurance protection and up to at least $250,000 of retirement account insurance protection from the NCUA.
With the combination of federal and private insurance, Neighbors Credit Union currently insures your deposit accounts up to at least $500,000 and your Individual Retirement Accounts up to at least $500,000!
